Manipur extra-judicial killings | SC not satisfied with SIT probe

Imphal, February 12: Following the updation on the 42 registered extra-judicial killings and fake encounters by the Special Investigation Team(SIT), the Supreme Court on Monday expressed its dissatisfaction.

Dissatisfied with the progress made by the CBI’s SIT the SC has directed the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to associate with the SIT for investigation of 17 cases out of the 42 cases.

The SC is also not satisfied as the SIT had filed the report without the approval of the director of the CBI.

The apex court has now directed the SIT to make its next report with the approval of the CBI director and the next hearing has been scheduled on March 12.
