Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 7th, 2019 launched a scathing attack on the Congress. Modi addressed an election campaign in Imphal, Manipur on April 7th, 2019.

“The chowkidar has done all the work with full dedication. Manipur is known for football and it’s about time to show the red card to Congress for the foul. They have played with your lives and respect,” Modi said.

He added, “Naamdaar claims that they will make the Northeast a hub of manufacturing industry. They are expert in manufacturing in abuses and lies. If the Congress party wanted to develop the Northeast region, they would have developed infrastructure and promoted sports. Now, all the capitals of the Northeast are connected with the rail lines.”

Modi said that around 1.25 lakh farmers of Manipur have started receiving financial assistance from the Centre.

“Congress’ hypocrisy document seems to blow the trumpet of Pakistan more than that of India,” Modi said.

Manipur goes to the polls on April 11th and 18th, 2019 for two Lok Sabha seats. It may be mentioned that the Coordinating Committee (CorCom), an umbrella group of six insurgent outfits in Manipur, and a militant outfit, Maoist Communist Party, had imposed a 17-hour shutdown in the state on April 7th, 2019 to boycott Modi’s visit.
