Manipur: PLA and UNLF apprehended in two different operations

Guwahati: Two insurgents belonging to different organizations were detained by Assam Rifles in two different operations, said official on Saturday.

According to the sources, based on specific information, Assam Rifles personnel and Manipur Police conducted an operation that resulted to militants arrests.

Assam Rifles official stated that, in two separate joint operation of Phundrei Battalion of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police nabbed insurgents of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on Thursday at Kakching and the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) at Thoubal Districts on Friday.

Taking to Twitter, Assam Rifles wrote, “ASSAM RIFLES APPREHENDS PLA AND UNLF INSURGENTS IN MANIPUR Phundrei Battalion of #AssamRifles, on 13 and 14 Jan, in two separate joint operations with Manipur Police apprehended insurgents of PLA and UNLF from Kakching and Thoubal Districts of Manipur.”

In another incident, Assam Rifles and Manipur police recovered an IED and a grenade in Manipur’s Kakching district at Umathel village on Friday.
