Manipur: Six insurgents militants held in separate operations, live ammunition recovered

Guwahati: The Manipur police apprehended two Kuki insurgents under suspension of operation (SOO) with the government and seized suspected heroin from their possession in Kakching district on Tuesday.

The arrested insurgents were identified as Paominlun, a cadre of the Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF), and HL Seikhongam Mate, a cadre of the Pakan Revolutionary Army (PRA/KNO).  

As per officials, around 272 grams of suspected heroin were seized from arrested Kuki militants.

According to the sources, near the Pallel police station, the militants and the drugs were intercepted while traveling in a vehicle.

The seizure was made from a four-wheeler bearing a Assam registration number, said the official.

As many as 22 soap cases containing heroin, weighing 272 grams were recovered.  

The arrested persons were handed over to the Kakching police station for further investigation. 

In another incident, on Tuesday, Assam Rifles apprehended four National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) insurgents with arms and ammunition at Bishnupur District.

The security forces also recovered one 09 mm Sig Saur P228 Pistol, 07 live rounds, and other stores.

Taking to Twitter, Assam Rifles wrote, “ASSM RIFLES APPREHENDS FOUR NRFM INSURGENTS WITH ARMS & AMMUNITION Loktak Battalion of @official_dgar, on 02 Aug, apprehended four insurgents of proscribed group #NRFM & recovered one 09 mm Sig Saur P228 Pistol, 07 live rounds & other stores at Bishnupur District, Manipur.”
