Massive fire reduces 11 shops to ashes in Assam’s Morigaon

Guwahati: A massive fire in Assam’s Morigaon gutted 11 shops at Laharighat’s Garam Bazar and caused losses of over crores on Friday morning.

According to sources, local believed that the fire to have started from a tailoring shop in the market, with a short circuit being the major reason.

Probably, the fire went from one shop to the next, but the residents were aware, they were able to stop the fire from spreading further, sources said.

Meanwhile, locals claim that the fire could have been put out if firefighters had arrived a little earlier, sources stated.

The fire was put out with the help of four fire vehicles.

However, at least 11 shops were destroyed, resulting in a loss of between Rs 1-1.5 crore.
