Measures taken to reduce Infant Mortality Rate in Assam: Pijush Hazarika

Guwahati, November 8: Assam Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Pijush Hazarika on Thursday said that the government has taken measures to reduce the Infant Mortality Rate.

It may be mentioned that 15 newborn babies died at the Jorhat Medical College Hospital  from November 1 to 6. JMCH Superintendent Dr Shaurabh Borkotoky informed the media persons that a six-member committee has been formed to evaluate the recent deaths.

“The BJP-led government has done all the work which was left undone for the last 15 years during the tenure of Congress in Assam,” he said.

He added, “The financial situation in Assam in stable. A large number of people benefited from the Atal Amrit scheme. We have started CT Scan facilities in the civil hospitals.”
