Agartala: A girl from a remote area in Tripura, named Dr. Nazneen Nahar Begum bagged the top rank on ‘Doctorate of Medicine’ in Infectious Disease course from AIIMS in New Delhi.
Becoming the first-ever woman medico with a ‘Doctorate of Medicine’ degree, Dr. Nazneen’s name will be written in golden letters in the medical history of Tripura.
About 140 kms away from Agartala city, she was born to a family residing in a remote area under the Kailashahar sub-division in the Unakoti district of Tripura.
Dr. Nazneen, daughter of Abdul Kuddus, a retired government official, and Amirun Nahad, a state government employee.
An overnight icon, Dr Nazneen is an inspiration for those who are aspiring to become medical students in the future.
Nazneen completed her schooling at Netaji Vidhyapith English medium Higher Secondary School in Kailashahar. She cracked the medical entrance exam and pursued a Medicine course at Agartala Government Medical College and there she was a Gold Medalist.
Later she studied MD (Tropical Medicine) in Kolkata. In the meantime, her research papers published in different international journals have brought recognition to her.
