Meghalaya: 3 villages achieve 100% COVID-19 vaccination
Guwahati: Three villages in Meghalaya has achieved 100 percent COVID-19 vaccination after whole age-group of 18-45 and above were incoulated.
Kemrang village under Mawkliaw PHC in Pynursla Block through the collective effort of block Development Officer (BDO), headman, medical officer and PHC staff has achieved 100 percent vaccination coverage of all person above the age of 45.
Annoucing this, Meghalaya chief minister wrote in Twitter, “Despite the vaccination hesitancy of the elders, the team’s commitment to educating them proved fruitful. Well done team!”
Meanwhile, Chiringro village from Samanda Block became the first village in East Garo Hills to achieve 100 percent coverage of COVID vaccination for all eligible adults.
Meghalaya had started the vaccination programme with the front-line workers on January 16 this year. The state government launched massive vaccination drive to get all the eligible people inoculated.
Earlier, Golagaon village under Bhaitbhari PHC became the first village in west Garo Hills district to achieve 100 percent vaccination of first dose for all eligible adults.
In Meghalaya, 28,745 people received the first dose of Covid vaccine while 28,745 people were administred with the second, as reports on Tuesday.
