Congress candidate Batyngshaiñ Ryngnga will contest the upcoming by-election from Shella Assembly Constituency slated to be held on October 21st, 2019, in Meghalaya. The All India Congress Committee high command approved his name for the candidature from the constituency for the election.
The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) had recommended Ryngnga’s name in its meeting held in Shillong on September 24th, 2019. On the other hand, the UDP has decided to field Balajied Synrem, the son of former MLA late Donkupar Roy for the seat.
The seat is lying vacant after the demise of the United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Donkupar Roy on July 28th, 2019.
