Guwahati: Actor-comedian Vir Das’s plan to take road trip from Guwahati to Shillong in Meghalaya did not seem to be fulfilling soon with very heavy rain continuing to create havoc in both the northeastern states.

Das said that he was considering renting a bike and doing the drive up from Guwahati to Shillong soon. Taking to his twitter he also asked netizens, “Any bikers done the route recently?”

He added, “I should mention context. Not looking for rental info. I’m not a terribly experienced rider. Most of my experience is in Ladakh. Is the route easy? Safe? Smooth? Scenic? Worth it?”

However, immediately many of his fans as well as the Meghalaya police chief LR Bishnoi suggested him to get the latest weather updates before planning his trip.

Das said that he was planning to come down to the city in some 10-15 days. He asked, “Flooding a seasonal long term thing?”

Bishnoi replying to his tweet wrote: “Meghalaya would love to host you. As of today, Guwahati-Shillong Road is clear for movement. However, please check the latest rains/landslide advisory before travelling to Shillong.”

At least 14 people, including a six-month-old infant, died in the rain-induced floods and landslides in the state on Friday, taking the death toll in the past two days to 19.

Das, a comedian-actor and a nominee for International Emmys Awards 2021 for his Netflix comedy special, Vir Das: For India had received backlash for his international show, Two Indias.

Recently, some of his shows of Gujrat tour also got cancelled after Hindu right wing groups protested against his tour to the state.
