    Meghalaya Government imposes ‘Total Lockdown’ in state from June 7

    Entry of tourists from outside the state shall not permitted and all tourist spots shall remain closed

    Guwahati: Amid the uncontrollable surge in Covid-19 cases in the state of Meghalaya, the government has enforced ‘Total Lockdown’ in the entire state for next one week.

    The order shall come into force from 5 am of June 7 till 5 am of June 14, 2021.

    Earlier, the state government had imposed lockdown in only five districts namely East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills and Ri-bhoi.

    Following the announcement, the state government has strictly prohibited political, public, social and religious gatherings.

    Conferences, Meetings and trainings are also prohibited during this period.

    Entry of tourists from outside the state shall not permitted and all tourist spots shall remain closed.

    Inter-state movement of persons shall be restricted; however, this shall not be applicable to transit vehicles of Assam/Tripura/Manipur/Mizoram.

    Funeral gatherings have been restricted to 10 persons with prior permission of the respective Deputy Commissioners/SDO (Civil).

    Weddings are not permitted and sports activities are also not permitted during this period.

    On the other hand, home delivery services are permitted subject to prior permission and regulation by the respective Deputy Commissioners/SDO (civil).

    E-commerce activities and courier services are permitted subject to prior permission and regulation by the respective Deputy Commissioners/SDO (civil).
