Shillong, December 2: Chief minister Conrad Sangma-led Meghalaya government will sign an agreement with Reliance General Insurance Company Limited, a part of Reliance Group, on December 3.
The agreement will be signed for the implementation of the fourth phase of the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) in convergence with Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
The scheme will cover a health insurance of Rs 5 lakh per family with an increased number of treatment to be made available to the people.
The Centre will bear 90 per cent of the expenditure while the state will bear 10 per cent of the expenditure of the treatment of the beneficiaries.
The health scheme will cover around eight lakh households in the state and around 3.4 lakh poor families.
