Meghalaya Launches Rs 1 Cr Scholarship Scheme For IAS Aspirants

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma launched Chief Minister’s Civil Services Fellows – a scholarship scheme to train youths of the state for the Union Civil services examination.

The scholarship worth Rs 1 crore will be offered to the talented IAS aspirants of the state and they will undergo free of cost coaching from ALS IAS.

Sangma said the selection of 100 students will be based on Meghalaya Reservation Roster List to give equal opportunity to students from Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills. The scholarship exam will be conducted on September 15th, 2019in all district headquarters under the supervision of the district Deputy Commissioner of each district, the Chief Minister said on August 29th, 2019.

Application Forms will be made available from September 4th, 2019 in all Deputy Commissioner office. The last date of form submission is September 12th, 2019. The results of the exam will be generated on September 22nd, 2019 and batches will commence from September 30th, 2019.

Students selected from Khasi/Jaintia Hills shall undergo their IAS training at ALS IAS Shillong whereas, students selected from Garo Hills shall undergo training at ALS IAS Tura via VSAT Technology and live telecast of classes in Delhi.

It may be mentioned, the ALS IAS has more than 75 centres across India including 30 in Northeast along with 2837 selections in UPSC till date including 154 selections last year.

Prateek Bhattacharya, the sales head of ALS, announced scholarship worth Rs 1 crore for 265 aspirants under ALS CSR Initiative for Youth of Meghalaya.
