Guwahati: In view of the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state, Meghalya government has decided to continue lockdown in East Khasi Hills till May 17, 2021.
Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma took Twitter to share the information. He wrote, “Govt. has decided to continue the #Lockdown in #EastKhasiHills district till 5AM of 17th May 2021. However, few restrictions will be lifted during the period. Essential Commodities’ shops in localities regulated by the Dorbar Shnong will be open with strict adherence to SOPs.”
According to deputy CM Prestone Tynsong, the COVID-19 situation in the state is “serious and grim”. He also requested all citizens of East Khasi Hills to bear the problems.
However, a few restrictions will be lifted. Banks and post office will open with limited employees. Home delivery will continue, and construction sites where laborers stay within premises would be allowed.
Also, weekend lockdown in other districts, which was imposed on Friday, will also continue for the time being.
Moreover, class 12 exams have also been postponed again, informed Tynsong.
