Meghalaya: Man dies after two-wheeler hits home minister's convoy vehicle

Guwahati: A 45-year-old man died and another was injured after a motorcycle collided head-on with a vehicle in the convoy of Meghalaya home minister Lahkmen Rymbui, official said Friday.

According to sources, Minister was on his way to a high-level meeting on the law and order situation when a motorbike travelling in the opposite direction crashed into one of the convoy cars on National Highway-44 near Khera around 1.30 p.m. on Thursday.

The rider died on the spot and the another riding pillion was injured, official added.

The escort car involved in the collision belonged to the East Garo Hills District Executive Force (DEF), official claimed.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident.

The victims’ relatives are providing assistance from us. After the investigation is completed, any necessary action will be taken. The victim is being treated at the Williamnagar Civil Hospital, said official.
