Meghalaya mine tragedy | CM Conrad to take call soon on continuing rescue operations


Shillong, January 12: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that he has ordered to continue the rescue operations following which he will take the final call whether to stop or to continue the rescue operations for the 15 trapped miners.

“It is becoming a gargantuan task. I have asked Coal India and Kirloskar Brothers to continue operations for at least 15 hours today. Based on the report, we will take a call,” said Sangma.

The Chief Minister also admitted chances of the trapped miners being still alive are slim.

It may be recalled that the miners have been trapped in a 370-feet deep illegal mine in Lumthari village in East Jaintia Hills since December 13, 2018.
