    Meghalaya Registers One New COVID-19 Case, State Tally Reaches 13

    The state has reported one death due to the virus so far

    Meghalaya on May 9th, 2020 reported one new positive case for novel coronavirus (COVID-19), taking the state tally to 13, including the first coronavirus patient in the state who died on April 15th, 2020.

    Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma took to Twitter to confirm the news.

    In a tweet he wrote, “Unfortunately we have another positive case in Shillong. It’s a person working in the same house. As a precaution health department was retesting all the primary contacts and in the process, we found this positive case. The person is safe and healthy and showing no symptoms.”

    The first COVID-19 patient of Meghalaya was a 69-year-old veteran doctor of a Shillong-based hospital. He was tested positive for coronavirus on April 13th, 2020 and died on April 15th.

    Meghalaya has registered 13 positive COVID-19 cases to date. Out of these, eight people are the family members and two are helpers of the first COVID-19 patient.
