Goalpara, September 14: Elephant terror has now not even spared the men in khaki at the Pancharatna River Police Station in Goalpara.

Many police officials and staff members of the police station have left their quarters due to the fear of wild elephants.

“We live in constant fear due to the elephants. It has become near to impossible for us to stay here. Around 15-20 elephants visit us every night. We are not able to sleep,” said a police official.

The herd of wild elephants have also fully-damaged four government quarters.

“They have damaged several quarters here. Apart from destroying the houses, they also eat the food items like rice. You cannot fight against a herd of elephant,” added the official.
