Guwahati, September 29: Singer Angarag Mahanta, popularly known to his fans as Papon, and Arjuna Awardee Hima Das had a midnight jamming session at the former’s Mumbai residence on Friday.
Papon live streamed the ‘music session’. In the live video, Hima was seen trying to play the drums and Papon guiding her with the right keys.
India’s star sprinter Hima, who recently surprised all by playing the Assamese folk instruments – nagara and taal – at her home in Kandhulimari, Dhing, had hit the right notes this time too. She seemed to enjoy the quick, short jamming session.
The 19-year-old athlete was conferred the Young Indian of the Year Award by GQ India on Friday.
“It was so lovely to have you at home my little puali 😊. And so happy to see that you also have a clear, focused and grounded head over your shoulders. Looking forward to your journey ahead. God bless and next time #MasorTengaa bonai khuwaam moi (sic),” posted Papon on Instagram on Saturday.
She also enjoyed a hearty Axomiya meal at Papon’s residence.
Hima created history after winning the gold medal in the women’s 400-metre event at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland in July and in the recently held Asian games in Jakarta, Indonesia where she won one gold medal two silver medals.
With her glorious performances in the sports event, she was awarded the Arjuna Award by President Ram Nath Kovind during a function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.
Hima was declared the Brand Ambassador of Assam by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday. The ace Sprinter was earlier named the sports ambassador of Assam.
