GUWAHATI: At a time when the world was counting down to welcome the New Year on December 31, a couple-none other than fitness enthusiasts Milind Soman and Ankita Konwar bid adieu to 2020 with their ‘Last Long Run’ from Guwahati to Cherrapunji in Meghalaya.

The Last Long Run that Milind Soman had begun in 2014 started with a run from Mumbai to Pune, followed by Bengaluru to Mysuru. Then in 2016, he ran from Goa to Gokarna and after that, it was Una to Dharamshala. In 2018, the couple ran from Colombo to Unawatuna and finally in 2019, it was from Tokyo to Mt Fuji.

This time, the couple decided to give their fitness a challenge with the latest Long Run from the city to the scenic hills of Cherrapunji in Meghalaya.

After completing the run, the couple took it to their social media accounts and shared their journey. Sharing an image, Milind wrote: “Happy 2021 people!!!! @ankita_earthy and I had a great end to 2020 with the Last Long Run from Guwahati to Cherrapunji, climbing almost 5000ft over 120km on 30th and 31st December.”

Adding to him, Ankita too posted on her social media account and said, “Can’t believe we’re actually done with the last long run of the year!!! With all the crazy inclines and crazy traffic from Guwahati to Cherrapunji almost without any hill training. This year has been a lot for all of us. Here’s hoping for a better tomorrow literally.”

After the run, the couple also went on a small trek to the iconic double-decker living root bridge in Nongriat kick start the year.
