Militant Outfit KLO Bans Its Spokesperson: Claims He Is A ‘Spy’

Guwahati: Amidst the process of initiating peace talks between the government and proscribed terrorist outfit Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO), the outfit has said that one of its leader Devraj Singha has been trying to mislead the process for his own gains.

The outfit in a statement said that Singha who claimed himself as the son of the KLO chief Jiban Singha was a ‘fraud’ and his real name was Dibakar Lahon. He was earlier posted as spokesperson for the outfit.

Koch Pavel, the self-styled foreign secretary of the outfit, said, “Despite being from a different community, KLO had accepted Dibakar in the group but the latter has been spying on the group. He is a member of Indian Army. KLO wants to warn the government not to use such person to solve the crisis.”

The outfit claimed that Dibakar Lahon alias Devraj Singha has been conducting illegal activities in the name of KLO and from now on, he has been banned in the Kamatapur region. The separate state that the KLO and several other Rajbanshi organisations have been demanding included six north Bengal districts besides a large part of Assam.

Pavel added, “KLO wants to warn the Centre, Assam government and other security agencies not to play game in the name of peace dialogue or to face action. It may derail the process.”

The outfit leader said that soon KLO would form a delegation team to accelerate dialogues with the government.

Last year, the outfit had expressed its desire to come to the peace talks which was welcomed by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The CM had tweeted: “In continuation with Govt of India’s efforts to bring lasting peace in the region, I welcome the desire of KLO leadership to join mainstream at an early date to resolve all issues through political dialogues. Govt of Assam would fully reciprocate this goodwill measure.”
