    Minor boy killed in suspected grenade blast in Tinsukia’s Jagun

    No banned separatist organizations have claimed responsibility for the suspected grenade blast incident so far

    Guwahati: A minor boy succumbed to his wounds in a suspected grenade blast incident at Katha Kathini in Jagun under Tinsukia District on Tuesday morning.

    Suraj Hajong, 12, of Jagun’s Hajong village, who was critically injured, was admitted to the Margherita Civil Hospital; however, doctors have ruled him dead.

    According to reports, the incident took place at around 7.30 am.

    Speaking to TIME8 in this regard, Jagun police station, Officer in Charge, Haren Baruah said, “The incident took place on the unpaved road where gravel works are being carried out normally. In the meanwhile, two boys were heading towards the riverside on a cycle, when one of them stepped down from the cycle and started to walk, the other boy riding the cycle reportedly found something hard beneath his foot a few metres ahead and just a couple of minutes later it exploded, we have been informed that it was a grenade explosion by security forces. However, the police are still investigating the matter. The boy riding the cycle succumbed to his wounds.”

    The incident has sparked sensation in the entire region.

    No banned separatist organizations have claimed responsibility for the suspected grenade blast incident so far.
