Minor girl rescued from trafficking in Lakhimpur

Guwahati, November 7: A 10-year-old girl was rescued from the human traffickers by the public in Gogamukh, Lakhimpur district on Sunday.

The victim is a resident of Nalbari, Torajan of Dhemaji.

As per reports, the girl was sold to one Kengo Lomi of Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh and was taken by her own parents in a car with the buyer when she was rescued. The parents had signed a contract with Kengo to send their daughter with an annual payment of Rs 36,000 and a contract deed was also made on a stamp paper.

The public after rescuing the girl detained the trio and later handed them over to the Gogamukh Police Station.

Kengo was released by police, as per reports.
