Karimganj, September 12: Gold ornaments worth Rs 40,000, in cash Rs 30,000, two bank passbooks and a mobile phone were stolen from a house at Ghungabari village in southern Assam’s Karimganj district late on Tuesday night.
Khalil Uddin, owner of the house, said the incident took place when all the family members were fast asleep. He said a gang of thieves gained entry into the house by making way through his son Abdul Sahid’s room and stole the items.
He said the miscreants fled away with gold ornaments, two UBI bank passbooks, cell phone and Rs 30,000 in cash.
On Wednesday morning, the family members came to know about the theft, he said.
An FIR was lodged with Patharkandi Police Station and a probe was initiated.
No arrest have been made in connection with the incident till now.
