Guwahati: Mizoram police apprehended a man from Assam on Thursday for allegedly being involved in the kidnapping of a 3-year-old girl.

The arrested accused identified as Fairul Haque, hailing from Assam’s Cachar district.

Police claimed they received information at the Lawngtlai police station that a woman from Bagha in Assam’s Cachar district was beaten up and thrown out of a car at Thingkah village in south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district by one Khairul Hoque Laskar and two other Assam residents.

However, the three accused also kidnapped the woman’s 3-year-old daughter and fled with Rs 1.5 lakh cash.

The Lawngtlai police station team promptly initiated an inquiry into the incident after receiving the information.

 Meanwhile, the implicated car was found on the side of the road around 5 kilometres from Thingfal village in Lunglei district on Tuesday, official stated.

After intense search, as a result Fairul Haque was arrested on Thursday in Cachar district with the help of Cachar police.

Furthermore, the kidnapped minor has been reunited with her relatives in Cachar, official added.
