Mizoram Sainik School all set to be the first to admit girl students!

Aizawl, December 25: Mizoram Sainik School in Serchhip District is spreading Christmas Cheer! The 27th and latest Sainik School to be set up in India, will be admitting girls from the academic session 2018-19.

The school is inviting admission applications for girl cadets to the 6th standard. Applications will be accepted upto the 30th of this month. The entrance examination is scheduled to be held on the 8th of January, 2018.

The school, located at Chhingchhip in Serchhip district, will be the first Sainik School to admit girl cadets.

Being an ardent advocate of this move, Mizoram Governor Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma (Retd) has expressed his delight over Central Government’s decision to allow admission of girl students. The Governor said that this shows that there is equal opportunity for development in Mizoram and the State leads the nation in gender equality and empowerment of women.

The Mizoram Sainik School which got clearance for establishment back in 1998, was inaugurated in May this year as the project was abandoned for ten years. The present State Government revived the project as soon as they came back to power in 2008.
