Congress MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed was suspended by the Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami for disrupting the proceedings of the session on December 4th, 2019. The MLA refused to stop asking questions during the Zero Hour on New Land Policy.

Ahmed continued to raise supplementary questions despite the Speaker’s repeated reminders. He was warned by the speaker to stop or else he would be suspended for the day. But he continued to ask questions which led to an argument and he was suspended for the day.

However, the Congress leader chose to continue his protest against the New land policy 2019 in Assam prepared by Revenue and Disaster Management Department. He was joined by Congress MLA from Barak Valley Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha.
