    Moderate earthquake of 4.1 magnitude hits Assam post-midnight; jolting residents awake

    As per a report by the National Centre of Seismology, the earthquake was recorded at a shallow depth of 10 km with its epicenter in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district

    Guwahati: A moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.1 on the Richter scale struck Assam and its adjoining areas at around 2.10 am on Wednesday, said the National Centre for Seismology.

    No report of any damage or casualties has been recorded during the quake.

    People in the districts of Lower Assam, including Guwahati, and Meghalaya have felt the tremor, informed sources.
