Modi, Japan PM To Visit Guwahati Around Mid-December

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Assam in mid- December this year for the 14th India-Japan annual summit.

India will host the summit to be held most probably in Northeast from December 15th to December 17th, 2019. As per media reports, Assam and Odisha are being considered as the possible venues for the summit. Guwahati is reportedly the first choice and Odisha capital Bhubaneshwar has emerged as the top contender.

Japan had earlier announced that it will invest Rs 13,000 crores in the Northeast region. In addition to that, Japan is expected to invest in key projects in the region, including Guwahati Water Supply Project, Guwahati Sewage Project, Northeast Road Network Connectivity Improvement Project spread over Assam and Meghalaya to name a few.

It may be mentioned here that the leaders of the two nations have already met each other thrice this year.
