Modi To Face People’s Wrath If He Visits Assam: AASU

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be greeted with massive protests if he comes to attend the inaugural ceremony of the Khelo India games in Guwahati. This was announced by All Assam Students’ Union (AASU).

The AASU along with 30 other indigenous organisations to launch ‘We Oppose CAA’ campaign at midnight on December 31st, 2019.

Addressing a press meet in Guwahati, AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath told the media said that the students’ body would keep an eye on all national and international events to be held in the city from next month. “Modi should be ready to face people’s wrath if he visits the state,” Nath said.

It may be recalled, Modi was shown black flags by the AASU activists as he travelled from Borjhar Airport to Raj Bhavan after he arrived in Guwahati in the month of February this tear.

The AASU appealed to all families of Assam to take an oath against CAA at midnight on December 31st, 2019 and on the morning of January 1st, 2020. They also urged all families to light earthen lamps on the evening of January 1st, 2019 as a tribute to those killed in police firing during the recent protests.

On January 3rd, 2019, the AASU will take out torchlight rallies in every nook and corner of the state. The ASSU also appealed to the people of Assam to burn copies of the CAA in the fire of the Meji during Bhogali Bihu celebrations.

In wake of non-stop protests against the CAA, Modi on December 30th, 2019 initiated a campaign in support of the controversial new citizenship act.
