Modi’s Assam Visit: GU Students, AJYCP Activists Detained In Guwahati

Several members of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) and students of the Gauhati University including the members of Gauhati University Students’ Union (GUSU) were detained for staging black flag protests during Prime Minister’s arrival here in Guwahati on February 8th, 2019.

While the AJYCP members tried to block the road and waved black flags near Machkhowa area, the GU students body waved black flags at the Prime Minister near 7 Mile area. Modi reached Guwahati on February 8th, 2019.

Meanwhile, chaos ruled the Uzan Bazar area in the city near the Swahid Nyas – the headquarters of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) as hundreds of AASU activists blocked the roads and displayed black flags on February 8th, 2019 in protest against PM Modi’s Assam visit. However, looking unruffled, Modi smiled and waved to the protesting students from inside his car.
