MoS Pratima holds ‘Dhikkar Rally’: Accused ex-CM Manik Sarkar for creating terror situation
Agartala: Union minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik, on Wednesday participated in a protest rally condemning the role of former Chief Minister and leader of opposition Manik Sarkar for carrying out a terror-like situation at his Dhanpur assembly constituency.
Bhoumik is the elected representative from the 1-West Tripura parliamentary constituency in the last Lok Sabha election held in 2019 and in the recent reshuffle of the central government, she has been appointed as union minister of state. She hailed from the Sonamura sub-division and also contested in 2018 election as an opponent of former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
Speaking with reporters, Bhoumik said, “Manik Sarkar has been elected as the MLA from Dhanpur for five times and become the chief minister of Tripura for four consecutive terms since 1998, but still he could not make a space for him among the minds of common people in his constituency and sub-divisional areas of Sonamura”.
“Becoming an opposition leader after enjoying power for a long tenure of 20 years as the Chief Minister of Tripura, Sarkar has failed to digest his present position. And due to this, his impatience has been revealed in Sonamura on September 06 last where he had instigated the communist cadres to create a terror-like situation in Dhanpur”, she alleged.
The elected representative from West Tripura parliamentary constituency also alleged that “On September 06 last, CPIM leaders Shyamal Chakraborty, MLA Shahid Chowdhury and a group of instigated cadres led by Sarkar carried out terrorism in Sonamura during the broad daylight. Although, Sarkar tried to suppress his face as a maoist, naxalite, separatist and terrorist kinds of attitude, but failed on that very day in Dhanpur”.
