Mother Of Two Set On Fire For Dowry In Morigaon, Dies

A mother of two, who was allegedly burnt by her in-laws for dowry on February 7th, 2019, succumbed to her injuries on February 12th, 2019 after battling for life. The victim, Elina Begum, had suffered 90 per cent burn injuries, as per reports.

According to the locals, Elina tied the knot with one Toufique Rahman of Jaluguri, Morigaon six years ago. “With time, Toufique’s family started demanding money from Ellina’s family. The husband’s parents were eyeing a plot of land belonging to Ellina. When she refused, her in-laws set her ablaze.”

“She left behind a five-year-old child and a three-month-old baby. The culprits must be punished,” the locals demanded.

A case has been registered under section 304 B 325 IPC against Ellina’s in-laws.
