Much awaited comedy film 'Local Utpaat' gets astounding response at premiere in Guwahati

Guwahati: The premiere of Local Utpaat, a new comedy film from the Local Kung Fu and Heavy Budget teams, had an astounding response in Guwahati on Thursday.

The team completely delivered on that promise, with the audience laughing throughout the premiere, with some of the loudest laughs coming from an iPhone sequence, a horror- comedy moment and the climax, which was a laugh riot of comedy and action.

The marketing slogan of film was “Sobigriholoi ahibo / Petor bixor tablet anibo / May 13 tareekhe / Local Utpaat hobo (Come to the theatres, bring stomach ache tablets, on May 13 as we unleash Local Utpaat).

Bibhash Sinha, who is best known for his role as Tansen in Local Kung Fu, has a few scene-stealing Inglish” dialogues.

“The majority of the credit for making Local Utpaat in such a cooperative atmosphere belongs to director cast and team,” stated Kenny Deori Basumatary.

“I’m extremely fortunate to be surrounded by incredibly brilliant and supportive friends and family,” Basumatary added.

Meanwhile, he also expressed gratitude to the 1270+ people who contributed money to the film’s crowdfunding.

“Even Bollywood action actor Vidyut Jammwal made a significant contribution,” Kenny said.

“The comedy and quick pacing of the picture received unanimous praise. This is one of the team’s best, if not the best. I was anticipating a laugh riot and this film 200% fulfils my expectations. Really an all-out comedy from an amazingly creative team. A must-watch in theatres,” said one of the viewers at the premiere show.

To a question on releasing the film on OTT, Kenny said: “We haven’t yet made a final decision on that. We’re hoping to get a good offer.” He added that if Local Utpaat recovers its investment, then they will make Local Kung Fu 3 next. “But for that, people need to watch movies in cinema halls. Because currently, that’s the only way for Assamese films to recover their investment.”
