Mukesh Ambani, son Anant donate Rs 25 crore for Assam flood relief, CM expresses gratitude

Guwahati: Industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his son Anant have donated Rs 25 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the flood-affected people of Assam on Friday.

The Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced this on his official twitter account and thanked the Reliance Industries Limited Managing Director for the gesture.

Taking to twitter, Sarma wrote, “My deepest gratitude to Shri Mukesh Ambani & Shri Anant Ambani for standing with the people of Assam at this crucial juncture by donating Rs 25 cr to CM Relief Fund. We appreciate this kind gesture. This will go a long way in augmenting our flood relief measures.”

The Dalai Lama, a spiritual leader from Tibet, is among the prominent personalities who have contributed to the relief effort. Oil India Limited (OIL) contributed Rs 5 crore, while the Dalai Lama gave Rs 10 lakh from his Gaden Phodrang Trust.

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor, singer Sonu Nigam and filmmaker Rohit Shetty have contributed Rs 5 lakh each to the CMRF. Meanwhile, music producer Bhushan Kumar donated Rs 11 lakhs for the flood-affected people of Assam.

On Friday, massive flooding in the state has claimed 10 more lives in the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll up to 117, said Assam State Disaster Management Authority.

Over 33 lakh people across 28 districts are reeling under flood waters.

Barpeta, Nagaon, Dhubri, Kamrup, Darrang, Cachar, Kamrimganj, South Salmara and Nalbari have been severely affected, the flood report stated.
