Guwahati: A Mumbai-based celebrity model from Assam’s Nagaon district was tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday at Nagaon and was immediately admitted at the town’s government hospital, Nagaon Bhogeswari Phukanani Civil Hospital (BPCH).
Joint director, health services, Nagaon Dr Atul Patar said, “We received reports of 12 persons tested Covid-19 positive on Tuesday. The report of the model was listed on top of the 12. Accordingly, we admitted her in the isolation ward of the BPCH as per protocol.”
The model, on Wednesday, criticized the hospital authority allegedly for poor provisions and for not maintaining hygiene in the hospital premises.
Reacting to the allegation, the joint director said, “There must be individual resentments. With limited infrastructure and funds, we have been trying to provide the best possible treatment and services.”
Stressing that every patient was equally treated, Patar said, “We strictly follow the laid down norms of the government while dealing with the Coronavirus patients. We cannot provide separate provisions for limited patients. One must realize, a hospital bed will always be different from that of a residential one. It is time that we try to overcome the pandemic together. Blaming the poor infrastructure at this trying time will further demoralize the front liners.”
