Mumbai police arrests rape accused from Hailakandi
Guwahati: A rape accused from Assam, who remained absconding for some time, has been arrested by joint cooperation of Assam Police and Mumbai Police.
The accused, identified as Sajir Ahmed Majumder, was nabbed from Dhonipur village in Hailakandi district of Assam.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Mumbai Crime Branch arrived at Hailakandi to nab the accused.
Reportedly, a woman lodged a complaint against Mazumder in the Colaba Police station last year. Based on the complaint, a case has been filed under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.
Mazumder has been handed over to the crime branch of Mumbai police and he will be taken to Colaba.
