Guwahati, December 30: The Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland, NSCN-K which is on a state level five points ceasefire agreement with the Myanmar government since 2012 has invited the NSCN-K for national peace talks at Naypyidaw scheduled in January next.
Although the NSCN-K did not attend both the government backed Union Peace Conferences earlier, this was the third peace conference invitation.
As per reports the invitation was made by Dr. Tin Myo Win, chairman of the Peace Commission (PC) after a meeting held at the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre (NRPC), where discussions on the development in the hilly areas of the Nagas and participation was discussed.
As per Myanmar’s Ministry of Information they have sent an official invitation to the NSCN-K to join the conference.
It may be mentioned that since 2010, the NSCN-K and the Myanmar government have not engaged in armed clashes.
