MZP calls 11-hour Mizoram bandh on Tuesday

Aizwal, January 7: The Mizoram’s apex student body, Mizo Zirlai Pawl(MZP) has called for an 11-hour state-wide shutdown on Tuesday.

The bandh has been given in support of the Northeast bandh called by NESO in protest against the Centre’s move to approve the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

The bandh would be observed across Mizoram from 5 am to 4 pm, as per media reports.

“If the bill is passed, it will have an adverse effect on the demography of Mizoram facilitating thousands of illegal Bangladeshis settling in Mizoram,” said the students body while addressing media.
