“Naga Flag & Constitution Can’t be Sacrificed”: NSCN (IM)
GUWAHATI: The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (I-M) on Wednesday once again said that the issue of the Naga national flag and constitution (Yehzabo) would not be on the bargaining table in exchange for anything.
The NSCN (IM) in a statement said that the Naga national identity symbolized by the Naga flag and constitution cannot be sacrificed at any cost.
“This inadvertent lapse has been misconstrued by the Government of India and thereby is creating unnecessary obstruction by making an issue out of it,” the NSCN-IM stated.
The NSCN said that such diplomatic norms could not be sidelined whenever Indo-Naga political dialogue takes place.
It added that the group had entered into an agreement to hold a political peace process after the Government of India agreed to accept the Naga issue as political.
The group added that the deadlock that has emerged on the issue of the Naga national flag and constitution after more than two decades of political dialogue was a matter of diplomatic error.
