Naga flag unfurled atop Great Wall of China

MHA recently has declared the entire Nagaland state a “disturbed area” for six more months under AFSPA

GUWAHATI: At a time when the Naga peace talks met with a stalemate with the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isaak-Muivah) pressing for a separate flag and constitution for the Nagas, a Naga flag was seen unfurled on the Great Wall of China, one of the seven wonders of the world.

The Global Naga Forum, a platform for Nagas across the world, on Thursday, posted a photo of a person holding a Naga flag on the iconic structure and it said, “A Happy and a prosperous New Year wishes to Nagas from the Great Wall of China.”

The forum recently criticized Nagaland Governor R N Ravi’s speech on Nagaland’s 58th statehood day on December 1 in which the latter scrapped the idea of a separate flag and constitution.

Earlier, reports claimed that top leaders of NSCN (IM) had gone to Yunnan province in China seeking support from the neighbouring country to back their demands.

The ministry of home affairs (MHA) on Wednesday declared the entire Nagaland state a “disturbed area” for six more months, enabling the continuation of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA).
