Nagaland: 13 police suspended for allegedly misappropriation of 10 gold bars

Guwahati: The narcotics unit of the Nagaland Police Department suspended 13 personnel for allegedly misappropriating ten gold bars without following due procedures.

A criminal case has been filed against the 13 officers.

The incident occurred on September 10 of this year, when 13 personnel from the Narcotic Police Station misappropriated ten gold bars without following proper procedures, said police.

In this connection, a criminal case has been filed at State Crime Police Station against the 13 erring personnel, with under case No. 005/2021 U/S 120B/420/419/201/202/217/221 the Indian Penal Code IPC, police added.

All 13 personnel have been placed under suspension and a disciplinary investigation into their actions is underway.

A different criminal case involving 290 gold bars weighing approximately 48.14 kg was recovered by another Narcotic Cell police station squad on October 3 at Narcotic Check Point, Khuzama, police said.

In connection with this, Nagaland police arrested two people, and a separate case was filed at the state criminal police station under case no. 006/2021 U/S 414/37 IPC.

The seizures made in both criminal instances are still intact in police possession, according to Nagaland police, both cases are under investigation and the situation is still under judicial review.
