    Nagaland: Three Shot down and Torched in Peren Dist; Bandh Called

    GUWAHATI: At least three persons were killed by unidentified gunmen at Lamhainamdi village in Peren district of Nagaland on Monday evening

    As per police, the incident happened when the victims were clearing a jungle for farming purposes in the area, which is said to be a point of contention between two communities.

    Police said the bodies of the deceased along with their vehicle were found burnt. While two of the victims were believed to be residents of Peren town and the identity of the third person was yet to be ascertained.

    As per the police, the incident took place around 5 pm on Monday.

    The miscreants also set ablaze the victims and the vehicle they were using triggering tension in the area. The district administration has already been contemplating enforcing section 144 CrPC in the area.

    Following the incident, civil society groups in Peren district have called for bandh on Tuesday too. An investigation was underway.
