Guwahati: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in Nagaon was arrested on Thursday for offering a bribe of Rs 10,000 to DSP Tridip Kumbang seeking posting at a police station.
The ASI identified as Abdul Motlib has been taken into custody for further interrogation.
Speaking about the incident, Nagaon Superintendent of Police, Leena Doley said, “One Abdul Motlib, ASI who is in Nagaon police reserve visited the DSP headquarter seeking a posting in a police station. He also offered a bribe of Rs 10,000 to DSP Tridip Kumbang, following which a complaint was lodged against him by DSP headquarters.”
SP Nagaon also mentioned that they have apprehended him and a case will be registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
