    Nagaon girl suspected to have died of ‘Drug Overdose’

    Police have busted a drug racket and arrested two persons who had allegedly sold them ‘brown sugar’

    Guwahati: In a tragic incident, one 15 year old girl from Nagaon was suspected to have died of a drug overdose on Wednesday night.

    The deceased, a ninth standard student, was found unconscious in front of her residence on Wednesday evening. Later she was declared dead by the nearby hospital authority.

    Family members said that she and another of her female friend had gone out with two other male friends. Later she was left unconscious in front of her house by her friends, family members said.

    Police said the other girl who was accompanying the deceased was also found in an unconscious state at Hujgaon area of Nagaon. She was currently undergoing medical attention and reportedly stable now.

    “We have detained the two boys with whom the girls believed to have done the addiction. The initial investigation highlighted that she might have died due to a drug overdose,” said Nagaon police sources.

    However, according to police, the deceased’s post mortem report would reveal more.

    Based on the confession of the detainee, police have busted a drug racket from the district town’s Silongoni area and arrested two persons who had allegedly sold them ‘brown sugar’.

    Police have also seized cache of contraband from their possession.
