    Nalbari district admin prohibits victory procession on counting day

    The order shall come into force on May 2 and shall remain in force until further order

    Guwahati: Under the provisions of section 144 CrPC, the district administration of Nalbari has prohibited victory procession after the counting of votes of state assembly elections on May 2.

    The order was imposed following the sudden rise in COVID 19 cases in the Nalbari district where the total number of cases in the district has risen to more than 58 as on April 28.

    As per the notification, not more than two persons shall be allowed to accompany the winning candidate or his/her representative to receive the certificate of Election from the Returning Officer concerned.

    The order shall come into force on May 2 and shall remain in force until further order.

    Violation of the order shall be punishable under the provision of section 188 Indian Penal Code (IPC).
