Former bureaucrat and Congress leader MGVK Bhanu said that there is no need for the people of Assam to know his full name as his work would speak for itself.

It may be mentioned that Minister of state for health and family welfare Pijush Hazarika on March 23rd, 2019, took a dig on Bhanu and said that at a time when the public is not even aware of the full name of Bhanu, Congress expects him to win from Tezpur.

“People might not be aware of my full name but they know about my works. That matters the most,” said Bhanu while speaking to TIME8.

Bhanu, a 1985 batch IAS officer, hails from Navabupalem in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Tezpur will be going to polls in the first phase on April 11th, 2019, when Bhanu will lock horns with Assam Minister Pallab Lochan Das. The three-phase election for 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam will be held on April 11th, 18th and 23rd, 2019.

He added, “I was working for the welfare of the state and will continue to so in the future.  If voted to power, I will fight for the rights of the people.”

Bhanu has served as secretary and commissioner to the chief minister and as additional chief secretary of the state during the Tarun Gogoi government. During his tenure as the Deputy Commissioner of Tezpur, he had taken a mega project of beautification of the town.

Attacking the BJP, the Congress leader said, “The truth of BJP has come to the fore. People of Assam no longer trusts the BJP. All their promises on employment, corruption is still a distant dream.”
