Guwahati: After 36 days of the horrific murder case of Nandita Saikia, Dhemaji police on Monday have filed a 400 paged charge-sheet against the accused.
The charge-sheet has been filed with signatures of more than 40 people against Rintu Sarma along with 14 eyewitnesses.
The incident occurred on August 21, when Nandita Saikai and her friend Kashmiri Dutta were on their way back home from college.
All of a sudden, Rinku Sharma who is the library assistant of the same college stabbed both the girls with a machete in the middle of the road and also injured Dutta’s father.

Later on September 5, Rinku Sarma was injured in a police firing after he allegedly attempted to “escape” from police custody.
Given the seriousness of the case, the Assam government had earlier announced that Saikia’s murder case will be judged in a fast-track court, and the case will be investigated by Special DGP, GP Singh.
