NE to witness scattered rains and thunderstorms due to cyclonic circulation, predicts IMD

Guwahati: The parts of North-Eastern India are expected to receive isolated to scattered showers or snowfall for the next five days owing to a cyclonic circulation over north Bangladesh and neighbourhood areas.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), during this period, light to moderate snowfall is likely to occur at upper reaches over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur and light rain at isolated pockets over Mizoram and Tripura from Thursday onwards. However, shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur at isolated pockets over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

On Friday, light to moderate snowfall is likely to occur at upper reaches over Arunachal Pradesh. Moderate rain is very likely to occur at many places over Arunachal Pradesh; light to moderate rain at a few places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur and light rain at isolated places over Mizoram and Tripura.

On Saturday, light to moderate snowfall is likely to occur at upper reaches over Arunachal Pradesh. Moderate rain is very likely to occur at many places over Arunachal Pradesh; light to moderate rain at a few places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur and light rain at isolated places over Mizoram and Tripura.

On Sunday, light to moderate snowfall is likely to occur at upper reaches over Arunachal Pradesh, whereas, Moderate rain is very likely to occur at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Likewise, on Monday, light to moderate snowfall is likely to occur at upper reaches over Arunachal Pradesh, whereas, Moderate rain is very likely to occur at most places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Warnings issued by IMD:

DAY 1: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura. Hailstorm is very likely to occur at isolated places over Meghalaya and districts of NE Assam.

DAY 2: Nil

DAY 3: Nil

DAY 4: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.

DAY 5: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura.
