New ‘Assam Accord’ Implementation panel holds maiden meeting in Guwahati

Guwahati: The eight-member newly constituted sub-committee on the implementation of the ‘Assam Accord’ headed by minister Atul Bora on Thursday held a meeting with state finance minister Ajanta Neog and a delegation team of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) led by its chief advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya.

This is the first meeting of the newly constituted sub-committee on the implementation of the ‘Assam Accord’.

AASU President Dipankar Nath, General Secretary Sankar Jyoti Baruah, advisor Uddip Jyoti Gogoi and Prakash Das among others were also present in the meeting.

It is noteworthy to mention that, for carrying out threadbare discussions on the Assam Accord, the Government of Assam had constituted this sub-committee on October 1, 2021.

Earlier, taking to Twitter, Minister Atul Bora said, “Held a meeting with senior officials of Implementation of Assam Accord and other departments in Guwahati. Assessed works of various projects set up under the historic Assam Accord to protect & preserve the state’s cultural heritage and accelerate economic development.”

“Issues related to the further development of Jyoti Chitrabon Film Studio, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Govt Film & Television Institute, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Numaligarh Refinery Ltd, Ashok Paper Mill and other industries were discussed,” he tweeted further.
